BREAKING: Protest: Omo Benue, Harry Nyam arrested in Makurdi
Popular social media activists, Harry Nyam and Omo Benue, were arrested on Sunday evening by security operatives at Hotel Reuphina in Makurdi.
The arrest comes hours after both influencers were seen participating in the mass protest held earlier in the day, where hundreds of Benue youths took to the streets demanding justice for victims of the Yelewata massacre.
Although the exact reason for their arrest has not been made public, eyewitnesses claim the two were trailed and quietly picked up by plainclothes officers believed to be part of a government security task force.
Their sudden detention has sparked outrage online, with many accusing the authorities of targeting voices of dissent rather than addressing the root causes of the crisis.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the police or state authorities regarding the charges or whereabouts of the arrested influencers.
