OLOCHE ENTERS THE FAST LANE WITH PRO-TAXI: How An Idoma Son Conquered Real Estate — Now, He’s Moving People
When Ambassador Lawrence Oloche Emmanuel, MON, ventures into a new business territory, it is hardly just another corporate announcement.
For an entrepreneur whose journey has moved through logistics, transportation, telecommunications, power transmission, construction and, most prominently, real estate, the launch of ProTaxi represents another chapter in a career built around identifying everyday problems and attempting to create businesses around them.
Now, the Idoma-born entrepreneur is turning his attention to one of Nigeria’s most pressing everyday challenges: mobility.
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, PromiseLand Innovations Limited is scheduled to officially launch ProTaxi, a homegrown e-hailing platform designed to connect passengers with drivers through technology while offering what the company describes as affordable, reliable and safer transportation.
But behind ProTaxi is a much longer entrepreneurial journey.
Long before his name became associated with Promiseland Estate, Oloche had already ventured into transportation.
An account of his business journey published by The Guardian says his first major business experience came through logistics and transportation under Fioloda Integrity. He later moved into power transmission and construction before making real estate his major focus in 2020.
In an earlier interview, Oloche himself explained that his entrepreneurial journey had taken him through logistics, telecommunications, power transmission and construction before the establishment of Promiseland Estate.
That history makes ProTaxi particularly significant. He is not entering transportation as a complete newcomer.
He is returning to a sector he previously encountered, but this time with technology, e-hailing and a stated emphasis on cleaner mobility.
The biggest chapter of Oloche’s business story so far has been real estate.
Promiseland Estate formally emerged as a separate investment division in 2020, according to the company’s official history. The company says its mission is to create sustainable communities comprising 100,000 housing units through innovative and affordable investment schemes.
Under Oloche’s leadership, the company has positioned itself around housing, investment and urban development.
Recent reporting by Vanguard said the company is pursuing an initiative to develop 100,000 housing units across Nigeria, beginning with the Federal Capital Territory.
In May 2026, Vanguard also reported that Promiseland said it had completed more than 30,000 units within five years, although this figure is a company-reported claim.
The real estate journey also brought national recognition.
In 2023, Oloche was listed among recipients of the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
NOW, HE IS MOVING PEOPLE
The transition from housing to mobility may appear like a sharp change in direction, but there is an obvious connection.
Housing determines where people live. Transportation determines how they move between those places.
ProTaxi is therefore being presented by PromiseLand as an expansion from one aspect of urban life into another.
Recent reports say the platform is being developed as an indigenous alternative in Nigeria’s e-hailing market, with emphasis on affordability, technology and environmentally friendly transportation.
The platform is expected to allow riders to request trips through its application, connect with available drivers, access trip information and make payments.
It also incorporates features including driver verification, real-time tracking, ratings and reviews, while passengers can share their live locations with family and friends.
THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BET
One of the most interesting aspects of ProTaxi is its stated interest in electric vehicles and cleaner transportation.
The company says the adoption of electric vehicles could reduce operating costs for drivers and potentially contribute to more affordable fares for passengers.
This places ProTaxi’s launch within a broader conversation about the future of transportation in Nigeria, where fuel prices, vehicle maintenance and operating costs have become major considerations for transport operators.
Oloche has described the company’s ambition as making transportation easier, cheaper and greener.
The platform’s stated long-term objective is to become a leading eco-friendly ride-hailing platform in Africa.
MORE THAN A TAXI APP?
For Oloche, ProTaxi is being positioned as more than an application through which people order cars.
The company has announced a driver empowerment programme targeting 1,000 drivers, with registration opened ahead of the October 1 launch. Oloche said the initiative is intended to create opportunities for 1,000 drivers and, by extension, support 1,000 households.
That introduces an employment and empowerment dimension to the venture.
For drivers, the platform says they will have flexibility over their schedules, including the ability to work full-time or for selected hours.
The proposition is therefore built around three groups: the passenger looking for transportation, the driver looking for income, and the company attempting to build an indigenous mobility platform.
FROM BUILDING CITIES TO CONNECTING THEM
There is a striking symbolism in Oloche’s latest move.
Promiseland’s corporate message is centred on building communities and cities. Its real estate platform speaks about housing, roads, infrastructure and urban living.
ProTaxi now enters from the other end of that equation: movement.
A city can have houses, offices, estates and commercial centres, but people still need to move between them.
That is the space Oloche is now entering.
And it is a highly competitive space, populated by established international and indigenous technology-driven transportation companies.
ProTaxi’s challenge will therefore not simply be launching an application. It will be building trust among riders, attracting and retaining drivers, maintaining safety standards, keeping fares competitive and delivering consistent service.
AN IDOMA SON’S BUSINESS JOURNEY
For many in Benue South, however, the story goes beyond business.
Oloche is an Idoma son whose entrepreneurial journey has grown from earlier ventures into a national business footprint.
His story has moved from logistics and transportation to construction and power, and eventually into real estate, where Promiseland became his most visible business platform.
Now, transportation has come back into the story — but in a completely different form.
This time, it is not simply about moving goods.
It is about moving people.
And not merely moving them, but attempting to use technology to make that movement safer, more accessible and more affordable.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The October 1 launch will therefore be more than the unveiling of another e-hailing application.
For Oloche, it marks the expansion of an entrepreneurial journey into a new industry.
For PromiseLand, it represents diversification beyond property.
And for the Nigerian market, it introduces another locally owned platform seeking space in the increasingly technology-driven mobility sector.
The ProTaxi application is already reported to be available on iPhone and Android ahead of the launch.
Whether ProTaxi eventually becomes a major player in Nigeria’s transportation industry will depend on what happens after the cameras leave the launch venue — how well the platform serves riders, how effectively it supports drivers, how reliable its technology proves to be, and whether its promise of affordability and cleaner mobility can translate into everyday reality.
But one thing is already clear.
After building a name in real estate, Amb. Lawrence Oloche Emmanuel, MON, is taking his next big entrepreneurial journey onto the road.
The Idoma son is on the move.
