BREAKING: Benue Assembly dissolves leadership, names new principal officers

The Benue State House of Assembly has reshuffled its leadership, dissolving the previous principal officers and appointing new officials to head both the majority and minority sides.

According to a statement released on Thursday by Zape Michael Upaa, Press Secretary to the Speaker, the new appointments are aimed at strengthening legislative operations and ensuring effective coordination within the Assembly.

On the majority side, Thomas Dugeri has been appointed Majority Leader, with Abraham Jabi as Deputy Majority Leader. Cyril Ikong now serves as Majority Chief Whip, while Simon Gabo assumes the role of Deputy Majority Whip.

For the minority bloc, Abu Umoro takes over as Minority Leader, supported by Cephase Dyako as Deputy Minority Leader. Samuel Jiji has been named Minority Whip, with Moses Egbodo serving as Deputy Minority Whip.

The Assembly noted that further details on the leadership reorganisation and its implications will be communicated to the public in due course.
