‘I’m the Victim’ – Tiwa Savage speaks on trauma of 2021 leaked video
Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has dismissed widespread rumours that she deliberately leaked her 2021 sex tape to stay in the spotlight.
Speaking in a recent interview with U.S. radio station Hot 97, the award-winning singer recounted the emotional toll the incident took on her.
“I was bashed for my sex video. A lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me,” she said.
Savage stressed that she was the victim of blackmail and never sought publicity from the leak. “They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would’ve been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point,” she added.
The tape became public in 2021 after she refused to yield to extortion attempts, drawing both criticism and support from fans worldwide.
