Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has attributed the growing defection of governors, senators, and other politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sule made the remarks on Monday during a ceremony in Lafia marking the return of Senator Ahmed Wadada of Nasarawa West from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC.
The governor said the reforms and policy direction under Tinubu are attracting political leaders who align with the government’s agenda, rather than merely seeking electoral advantage.
“We were at a meeting in Kebbi recently to welcome another governor into our party, and just this morning, yet another has joined. The leaders see the changes happening in the country and are returning because they agree with the President’s policies,” Sule said.
Sule also welcomed Wadada, assuring him and his supporters of equal opportunities within the party. “I thank Senator Wadada for choosing to join us and believing in our party. We are ready to work together,” he added.
The APC state chairman, Aliyu Bello, pledged a level playing field for all party members seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 elections and emphasized support for credible and popular candidates.
Speaking at the event, Wadada affirmed his loyalty to Governor Sule and lauded the state’s peace and development, noting that it encouraged his supporters to return to the APC.
To support party operations ahead of the 2027 elections, Wadada also donated 18 vehicles to party leaders across the state’s senatorial zones and local government areas.
