Again, Eric Chelle invites Idoma-born striker, Akor Adams, others for Super Eagles playoffs
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff campaign.
The squad includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and eight forwards, featuring several regulars such as captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, and Wilfred Ndidi.
Notably, Idoma-born forwards Akor Adams and Moses Simon have again earned spots in the team, highlighting the continued contribution of Idoma footballers to the national team.
Raphael Onyedika and Bright Osayi-Samuel return after missing the last two matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic due to injuries. Defender Chidozie Awaziem and winger Chidera Ejuke have also been recalled for the playoffs.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye rejoins the squad after serving a two-month suspension in Italy over an alleged betting scandal.
The players will converge in Rabat on Sunday to begin preparations for the playoffs.
Nigeria will face the Panthers of Gabon in the semi-final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, Rabat, on Thursday, 13 November. The winner will advance to face either the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon or the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final on Sunday, 16 November.
