I contested for presidency before Peter Obi – atti Baba-Ahmed,
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has announced plans to contest the presidency in 2027, promising substantial pay increases for police, army personnel, and teachers if he wins.
Speaking during a rally at his party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Baba-Ahmed said:
“If I become the president, the police, the army, and the teachers will earn no less than four times their current pay by June 2027.”
Baba-Ahmed, who was Peter Obi’s running mate in the 2023 elections, also emphasized that his presidential ambition predates Obi’s political moves.
“I’m my own boss, I contested for the presidency before Peter Obi in 2019,” he said.
The former vice-presidential candidate made the declaration as he formally launched his campaign for the 2027 election, stressing that his aspiration is independent and longstanding.
