Gunmen kill 50-year-old man in Benue village
Gunmen have shot and killed a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Sadauna, in an early-morning attack on Gbajimba village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources informed Zagazola Makama that the attackers stormed the community around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and targeted the victim before escaping the scene.
“Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), stationed in Gbajimba, immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving the report,” one of the sources said.
According to them, soldiers arrived to discover that Sadauna had already been killed by the armed men.
“The troops swiftly pursued the fleeing gunmen along their suspected escape routes, but no contact was made,” the source added.
Sources further disclosed that the troops secured the surroundings and evacuated the victim’s remains, which were later handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police at the Gbajimba Police Division.
Efforts to track and apprehend the perpetrators are ongoing, according to security officials.
