Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, January 23, 2026
The Nigerian naira recorded modest gains against the United States dollar in early trading on Friday, January 23, 2026, closing the third week of the year on a positive note.
The improvement was driven by stronger liquidity at the official foreign exchange window and a noticeable easing in dollar demand.
Official Market Performance
Figures from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) show that the naira began trading at ₦1,420.13 to the dollar.
As the session progressed, the local currency appreciated to about ₦1,418.16 per dollar by mid-morning, reflecting a 0.31 percent increase compared with the previous day’s close.
Market watchers link the naira’s rebound to improved efficiency in forex allocation and the Central Bank’s sustained push to settle pending obligations.
Analysts also note that greater transparency within the NFEM has helped create a more predictable market, with corporate buyers experiencing relatively stable exchange rate movements throughout January.
