BREAKING: ‘Ole Ole, catch am’ – Angry workers chase Wike’s convoy in Abuja
Tension gripped parts of Abuja on Monday when a group of aggrieved FCTA workers reportedly chased the motorcade of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, during a protest over unresolved welfare and salary issues.
According to reports and a video obtained by Daily Trust, the protesting workers, who have been on an ongoing strike, gathered along the minister’s route to press their demands. The demonstrators became visibly agitated as Wike’s convoy passed, chanting and moving toward the vehicles to demand attention to their grievances.
The protest comes amid an ongoing indefinite strike by FCTA workers, backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which has raised concerns over unpaid promotions, inadequate working tools, and alleged political interference in administrative matters.
More details on the incident and official responses from the FCTA or NLC are expected to follow.
