Suspected Boko Haram fighters kill 21 in fresh attacks in Niger
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly carried out a new wave of attacks in parts of Borgu and Agwara Local Government Areas of Niger State, leaving at least 21 people dead.
The attacks, which occurred late on Friday night, were disclosed by security analyst and reporter, Zakari Y. Adamu Kontogora, who shared details of the incident via his Facebook page.
According to him, the assailants moved through several communities, shooting residents and setting houses ablaze.
Security sources quoted by the analyst said the deadliest assault was recorded in Konkoso community, where no fewer than 21 people were confirmed killed after the gunmen invaded the area.
The attackers were also said to have struck neighbouring settlements, including Pissa, Zango and Tungan Maƙeri, where additional casualties were reported. Several homes and business premises were reportedly destroyed during the coordinated raids.
As of the time of filing this report, the armed men were believed to still be operating within the affected areas, heightening tension and fear among residents.
