Nigerian Army rescues 360 kidnap victims in Borno
The Nigerian Army has rescued 360 people abducted by Boko Haram during an operation in southern Borno State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the operation was carried out in the Mandara Mountains, a known stronghold of the terrorist group.
The rescued victims, including women and children, were abducted from different communities across the state.
Army spokesperson, Lt. Col. Haruna Sani, said two infants died from exhaustion due to the harsh terrain and conditions endured during captivity.
He added that the rescued victims had been evacuated to safe locations, where they are receiving medical attention and humanitarian support.
The Army described the operation as a major success and a significant setback for Boko Haram.
Nigeria continues to face security challenges in the North-East, where Boko Haram and other armed groups have carried out attacks, kidnappings and other violent activities for more than a decade.
