ECOWAS opens 2026 recruitment, announces vacancies for Nigerians, others
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has launched its 2026 recruitment drive, calling on qualified citizens from its member countries, including Nigeria, to apply for more than 30 available roles across its institutions.
The regional body made this known in a notice posted on its official website on Thursday, explaining that the exercise is designed to boost the delivery of its sectoral programmes.
It advised interested candidates to apply through its official careers portal.
Positions Available In Abuja, Nigeria
The notice revealed that a number of roles are based in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja.
Openings include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant positions, Legal Officers, Political Adviser, Principal Officer roles, Registrar positions, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.
Opportunities Across Other African Locations
ECOWAS also announced vacancies in other African cities, reflecting its regional operations.
These include Administrative and Finance Officer roles in Addis Ababa, PPO (Sports Policy) in Liberia, and Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) in Conakry.
Additional legal and administrative openings are available in Dakar and other locations.
The organisation noted that applicants must meet age criteria depending on the role category.
“35 years of age for General Services or Support positions (G1 to G7), 45 years of age for Professional category (P1 to P7), and 50 years of age for Director positions (D1-D2),” the notice read.
Application Process And Deadline
ECOWAS explained that applicants are required to download and fill out its official application form, attach a CV and a motivation letter, and submit the documents through specified email addresses before the closing date.
“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” it stated.
The application window for the 2026 recruitment exercise will close on April 30, 2026.
The organisation also cautioned applicants against falling victim to fraud, emphasising that no fees are charged during its recruitment process.
It further encouraged women to apply, noting that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
The recruitment exercise highlights ECOWAS’ effort to strengthen its institutional capacity while promoting inclusiveness among its member states.
