Adamawa man arrested for allegedly beating neighbour to death
A man has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly beating another man to death in Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.
The Adamawa State Police Command identified the suspect as Abubakar Musa and said he was arrested in connection with the alleged culpable homicide of Nathaniel Yusuf, who was also from the same community.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by the deceased’s sister, Grace Yusuf, who reported the alleged attack on her brother.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said police operatives responded to the distress call, visited the scene, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, where the suspect was arrested.
Nguroje said preliminary investigations revealed that Yusuf sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head injuries after he was allegedly attacked with a stick by Musa.
“Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, the victim was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment,” the police spokesperson stated.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and conduct a thorough investigation.
Nguroje assured that the suspect would be diligently prosecuted in accordance with the law upon completion of investigations.
