I won’t run away from challenges inherited from Buhari – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said he is determined to tackle the challenges inherited from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that his government is working to restore Nigeria’s economy and security.

Tinubu stated that since taking office, his administration has been focused on addressing inherited problems and changing the country’s situation for the better.

The President made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Tinubu, Nigeria has moved beyond the period of economic uncertainty, saying the country’s economy has recovered and is now on a stable path.

He also assured Nigerians that his administration was strengthening the security architecture by providing more resources and equipment for security agencies to tackle terrorism.

Speaking on the security situation, Tinubu said he recently approved the expansion of the Nigerian Army and other components of the Armed Forces.

“I don’t run away from what I inherited. I inherited challenges and I’m doing something about it. Yes, I can tell you that I’m doing something about it and there are resources to equip them, build new barracks, arm them and defeat terrorism,” he said.

The President urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against terrorism, stressing that protecting the country remains a collective responsibility.

He said his administration would continue to uphold national unity, describing diversity as a key factor in Nigeria’s prosperity and future stability.

Tinubu further stated that the country had moved away from what he described as a “dark tunnel” when he assumed office, adding that the economy was no longer at risk of collapse.

“I can tell you that the country has been placed on a sound footing, the economy has recovered and the dark tunnel that we entered into when I came into power has changed,” Tinubu added.
