Bandits kill APC ward leader, resident in Kano
Two residents have reportedly been killed after suspected bandits attacked Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when the gunmen allegedly entered the community and opened fire.
Among those reportedly killed was Alhaji Garba Buba, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward leader in Rantan.
Another resident, identified as Sulaiman Zunduma, also reportedly lost his life during the attack.
Journalist Bakatsine, who tracks insecurity and conflict in Nigeria’s North-West, reported the incident in a post on X on Monday.
The reported attack came shortly after the rescue of the Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa.
Chiromawa had reportedly been abducted in Chiromawa, located in Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state.
The latest incident has raised fresh security concerns in the area as residents await an official account from authorities.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not released a statement confirming the reported killings.
