Jonathan lost as sitting president, Tinubu can lose too – Kwankwaso
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential running mate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is assured of victory in the 2027 presidential election because of the number of governors backing the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso said the 30 APC governors have performed poorly and may struggle to secure victory for Tinubu in the election.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, the former Kano State governor cited the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan while in office as an example.
He said: “Jonathan was the sitting president, and he lost the election. Those who think that because they have more than 30 governors, they cannot lose are making a very big mistake.
“The trend is that those governors and their parties have performed woefully. It is difficult for many of them to even come out and campaign because, from top to bottom, they did absolutely nothing,” he said.
