‘Save your money’ — Davido reveals Dangote’s advice since childhood
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared details of his long-standing connection with billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, saying their relationship goes back to his earliest days.
Davido spoke about the business mogul during a recent interview in Lagos, where he reflected on Dangote’s relationship with his family and the financial guidance he has received from him over the years.
The singer recalled that Dangote was already closely connected to his family around the time of his birth.
“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” he said.
Davido said the billionaire has continued to offer him the same financial advice whenever they meet, particularly on the importance of saving and managing money wisely.
“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” he said.
According to the singer, Dangote’s counsel has remained useful throughout his rise in the entertainment industry. He said the advice has helped shape his approach to handling money as his career has grown.
Davido also offered an insight into the lives of billionaires, arguing that immense wealth does not necessarily make them different from ordinary people. He noted that their private lifestyles may not always match the image created around them.
The singer further explained that Dangote has a close relationship with his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke. He said the bond between the two men has helped sustain a connection between their families for many years.
Davido added that his personal relationship with Dangote has also endured from his childhood into adulthood, making the businessman a familiar figure throughout different stages of his life.
