2027: Abba Yusuf urges Northerners to support Tinubu’s re-election

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on Northerners to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.

Yusuf said the South should be allowed to complete an eight-year presidential tenure before power returns to the North.

The governor spoke on Sunday at the Kano Government House during the flag-off of 50 branded vehicles donated by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

The vehicles are intended to support grassroots mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yusuf said the North had already completed an eight-year presidential tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari, who governed from 2015 to 2023.

According to him, the rotation of presidential power between the North and South should guide the political process.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has served Nigeria for the last three and a half years. As we approach another election, Nigerians should support his re-election for another term,” Yusuf said.

He added that power could return to the North after Tinubu completes eight years in office.

“At the end of that period, power will return to the North. Only Allah knows who will become Nigeria’s President then,” the governor said.

Yusuf specifically appealed to Northerners and residents of the North-West to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“We have to be patient. May Allah take us to 2031,” he said.

The governor also appealed to politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged political actors to avoid character assassination and concentrate on their records, programmes and plans for Nigerians.

Yusuf said campaign activities should focus on development and improving the welfare of citizens.
