Idoma Hall of Fame to honour more Idoma icons every two years — Advisory Board Chairman, Okwoche
The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Idoma Hall of Fame (IHOF), Engr. Morgan Okwoche, has said the institution will continue to honour more deserving Idoma personalities every two years as part of efforts to recognise excellence, celebrate achievements and preserve legacies.
Okwoche made this known during the maiden induction ceremony of the Idoma Hall of Fame, held in Abuja as part of the Idoma Centenary Plus celebration.
He said the wealth of talent, achievement and service among the Idoma people could not be exhausted in a single exercise, assuring that subsequent editions of the induction ceremony would provide opportunities to recognise other deserving individuals.
The advisory board chairman acknowledged that some qualified personalities might have been inadvertently omitted from the maiden list of inductees, expressing regret over any such omissions.
He, however, stressed that the biennial nature of the institution would allow more individuals who had distinguished themselves in their respective fields to receive recognition for their contributions to society.
Okwoche congratulated the inductees, noting that the recognition was particularly significant for deceased honourees whose legacies continued to inspire generations.
He also paid tribute to the founder of the institution, Engr. Remi Olowude, commending his vision, commitment and determination in establishing the Idoma Hall of Fame.
He urged stakeholders to protect the institution from divisive interests and uphold its founding ideals, describing it as an initiative dedicated to recognising excellence and serving the public interest.
Okwoche further disclosed that the permanent physical hall of the institution, currently being completed in Otukpo, Benue State, would soon be commissioned, with the date to be announced.
He called on the Idoma people and other stakeholders to support the institution in its mission to preserve the heritage of the Idoma nation and inspire future generations.
“Today we honour excellence, tomorrow we inspire generations, and for generations to come, we preserve a legacy,” he said.
