Enone APC Primary dispute: Okoriko Abah accepts court judgement, rules out appeal

Okoriko Abah has accepted the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissing his suit over the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency.

Abah also ruled out an appeal against the judgement, citing the need to promote peace, unity and the collective interest of the people.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Abah said he approached the court to challenge the alleged failure of the APC to conduct a primary election in the constituency and the imposition of a candidate in violation of the Electoral Act 2026, the Constitution and the party’s guidelines.

The Federal High Court dismissed the suit on October 28, 2026, over his failure to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution process.

Abah, however, said he had petitioned the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, and appeared before its Appeal Committee without receiving any resolution.

“While I believe there are sufficient grounds for appeal, I have decided not to pursue it in the overriding interest of peace, unity and the collective good of our people,” he said.

He explained that his decision followed interventions by respected elders and stakeholders, whom he had assured that he would not pursue the matter further.

“Though difficult, I stand by my word. I believe that honouring commitments and placing the collective interest above personal ambition are essential to responsible leadership,” he added.

Abah appealed to his supporters and political associates to remain calm, peaceful and steadfast, saying the court’s decision should not diminish their shared aspirations.

On his next political move, he said he would consult with his supporters, elders and relevant stakeholders after reviewing events surrounding the party’s primary election.

“Any subsequent political decision will be guided by our collective interest and the best future for all of us,” he stated.

He thanked his family, elders, political associates, stakeholders and supporters for standing by him throughout the legal battle.

“Although this marks the end of a legal chapter, it is not the end of my commitment to the progress and political advancement of our people. We shall approach the next phase with wisdom, unity and a clear sense of purpose,” Abah added.
