The Commissioner for Health in Kano State, Dr Aminu Tsanyawa, has recovered from coronavirus (COVID-19).

This was confirmed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Muhammad Garba, on Thursday.

Garba revealed that the Co-chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19, Professor Abdulrazak Habeeb, has also recovered from the disease.

Professor Habeeb works at the Department of Medicine within Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and the Bayero University Kano (BUK).

According to Garba, the health commissioner and the professor are among the 16 recovered COVID-19 patients discharged recently from the government’s facilities.

He noted that 22 people have been discharged so far in Kano with 13 people dead.

The information commissioner stressed that all the patients have tested negative for the disease after the two follow-up tests and have, therefore, reached full recovery.

He also advised the residents to continue to observe the strictest personal hygiene through regular washing of hands, use of face masks, and social distancing.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 55 new positive cases in the state.
