Why I want to play under Erik ten Hag this season – Anthony Martial
Last season, Martial had a poor season for both Manchester United and his loan club Sevilla, netting just two goals and raising doubts about his future with the Red Devils.
Anthony Martial appears to have made it clear that he wants a chance to show what he can do at Manchester United next season.
Last season, the Frenchman had a horrible season with the Red Devils in the first half and then on loan to Sevilla in the second half. Martial only scored two goals in his combined games for both clubs due to a lack of playing time.
Despite being signed as the world’s most expensive teenager, his poor performances appear to have dashed any hopes of resurrecting his United career. Martial has never really been able to consistently live up to that hype, and his stint at Old Trafford came to an end when he moved to La Liga in January.
The Red Devils are due to undergo a big change this summer, with Erik ten Hag taking over as the new head coach. Given his problems since signing from Monaco, Martial appears to be a top target for a transfer away from the club.
However, this appears to go against Martial’s wishes for his future, since the Frenchman has stated that he wishes to remain in Manchester. When pre-season begins, the Frenchman has made it obvious that he feels he will be returning to United with Ten Hag.
“Right now, I’m in great shape.” I was able to bounce back from the injury, which was a complex one that took a long time to heal, but I’m doing much better today. Martial told ABC Sevilla, “I’ve been very cautious about being able to return and be ready for the team to help, which is why I opted to come to Sevilla.”
