Adolphus Ikuluke: Controversy trails death of Benue Catholic priest

Controversy is currently trailing the death Fr Adolphus Ikuluke, a priest under the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE reports that the catholic cleric died on Monday after a brief illness.

Following his death, a catholic Priest, Fr Benjamin Tardoo Agan, CSSp has faulted the decision of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi and his consultors not to celebrate a funeral mass for the deceased.

Fr. Agan, in a Facebook page, said he was not happy and no apology, challenging the Chikpa Wilfred Anagbe of Makurdi Diocese, to go into isolation if indeed Fr. Ikuluke died of COVID-19 since they all kept visiting while in the hospital.

He called on the Bishop to tender apology or he will call on human right lawyers to sue Benue State University Teaching Hospital for gross negligence and criminal conspiracy for allowing them visit the late Priest in his critical condition.

Fr. Again wrote:

“I’m totally disappointed with what they did to an ordained priest of God. Their undisclosed conflict of interest shows that they are dabbling in politics and not religiosity.

It is a shame! I have no apology. This clearly shows that the Bishop does not have good advisers but sadists and sycophants.

If Ikuluke died of COVID-19 then the Bishop and all those who visited him while he was hospitalised should go into isolation for fourteen days because we all visited him. I was always going there to give him communion.

I hate people who take pleasure in playing politics with the lives of people especially an ordained priest of God.

The Bishop and his consultors owe us an apology or else I will advise human right lawyers to sue Benue State University Teaching Hospital for gross negligence and criminal conspiracy for knowingly allowing us to visit him in his critical condition because we are now potential carriers of the virus going by their shameful display on Monday.”
