Nollywood actress, Monalisa Stephen is dead

Popular Nollywood actress, plus-size advocate, and brand influencer, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, has passed away at the age of 33 due to complications linked to low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
According to a family source, she died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos State.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday by entertainment executive and CEO of Best of Nollywood, Seun Oloketuyi, who paid tribute to her in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” Oloketuyi wrote.
Monalisa Stephen was well known for her outspoken advocacy on body image, self-love, and mental health. She used her platform to challenge societal standards, frequently sparking conversations with her bold commentary.
In 2023, she drew attention during an interview in which she made a controversial personal revelation. Despite public reactions, she stood by her beliefs, consistently urging plus-size women to embrace their bodies and live authentically.
As of press time, the family had not issued an official statement, but tributes have continued to pour in from fans, fellow actors, and colleagues in the entertainment industry who remember her passion and fearless voice.
