Immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson (‘Oyi’Ihotu K’ Idoma), has been declared winner of the Bayelsa West Peoples Democratic Party’s senatorial candidate for the forthcoming bye-election.

Dickson emerged as a consensus candidate, having stood for the primary election as  sole candidate!

The returning officer of the PDP national panel, Mr. Nicholas Obhiseh, returned Dickson as the validly nominated candidate at the party’s special primary election held on Saturday at Sagbama town, headquarters of the Bayelsa West senatorial district.

In his remarks, Dickson commended the people for their “dedication, loyalty, support and prayers” throughout his eight years as governor and for finding him worthy of another serious mission.

Reacting to the development, the lawmaker representing the good people of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo, congratulated his erstwhile boss on his emergence as the PDP flagbearer.

Ottah, who served as Dickson’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, wrote, “Congratulations To The Ofuruma-Pepe.

“Indeed, the Ijaw Nation will have its authentic voice heard on the main bowl of the National Assembly!”
