Benue Governor, Alia appoints Terna Francis pioneer Executive Secretary for Education Quality Board
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Dr. Terna Francis as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly established Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, in Makurdi.
Before his appointment, Dr. Francis served as the Director-General of the Bureau for Education Quality Assurance. His new appointment takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, the creation of the board follows a new law enacted by the Benue State House of Assembly, which merged the former Bureau for Education Quality Assurance and the defunct Benue State Examinations Board into one unified body.
Governor Alia explained that the merger reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring a more effective, integrated system of quality assessment and examination management.
“This strategic merger underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the education sector,” the governor said.
“It is aimed at ensuring that every Benue child receives holistic, high-quality, and competitive education that prepares them to excel anywhere in the world.”
The governor urged Dr. Francis to bring his experience, integrity, and innovation to bear in repositioning the state’s educational quality assurance framework.
He reiterated that education remains a top priority for his administration and emphasized that the new board must serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement, discipline, and high standards across all levels of learning in the state.
