Benue govt commences distribution of 15,000 plastic chairs, tables to basic schools

Benue State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has commenced the distribution of fifteen thousand (15,0000) plastic chairs and tables to Basic schools in the state valued at four hundred and thirty three million, five hundred and twenty five thousand, nine hundred and fifty kobo (433, 525, 950.00).

Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Comrade Utse Joseph who performed the ceremony today at the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology in Makurdi said the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom had earlier procured and distributed ten thousand (10,000) plastic chairs and tables to Basic schools in the state recently.

He appreciated the Governor for showing primary concern for the Benue child at the grassroot as he makes sure they do not sit on the bare floor to learn.

“His Excellency has donated twenty five thousand (25,000) chairs to Basic Schools within a short period of less than six months. He actually loves the Benue child”, the Executive Chairman said.

Comrade Utse urged people of the State to take the chairs as their personal property and protect it rather than resort to sabotage because it is public property.

He warned that anyone found taking away the chairs for personal use will be arrested as cautioned by the Governor before.

He explained that the second batch of the initiative was for schools that were not reached during the first phase of the distribution and are located in the most interior areas of the state. He assured that the third batch of the distribution will commence soon.

The Executive Chairman was accompanied by Board Members ,SUBEB Directors, Procurement Officer and the Media Team while Honourable Commissioner for Energy, Science and Technology, Dr. Godwin Oyiwona witnessed the distribution.
