Senator Titus Zam, representing Benue North West Senatorial Zone and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Rules, has assured his constituents that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to addressing the issue of farmers-herders clashes across the nation.

He conveyed this message during an interactive session with constituents from Gwer West Local Government Area in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

Zam disclosed that President Tinubu, in collaboration with the service chiefs, has taken proactive measures to mobilize security personnel to address insecurity, particularly incidents affecting farmers. These efforts are aimed at enabling farmers to safely return to their fields.

During the session, Zam also discussed the ongoing challenges posed by sustained herdsmen attacks on Ityoshin communities in Gwer West, which he characterized as having political dimensions. Reportedly, suspected armed herdsmen have occupied a significant portion of farmlands and caused house fires in 13 out of 15 council wards in Gwer West.

Zam further highlighted his engagement with the newly appointed Minister of Works regarding the collapse of the Makurdi-Naka-Adoka federal highway. He expressed optimism about resolving this issue through cooperation with the relevant authorities.
