Benue man, Bem Matthew stabs ‘stubborn’ wife to death

A tragic incident occurred in Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, where a man identified as Bem Matthew allegedly stabbed his wife to death. The incident took place at approximately 7:03 am on a Tuesday.

Neighbors quickly responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect, while the lifeless body of the victim was transported to the mortuary.

The suspect was subsequently arrested by officers from the Konshisha Divisional Police Station. During questioning at the police station, the suspect confessed to the heinous act, stating that he had stabbed his wife to death because she was no longer “submissive to him.”

An eyewitness, speaking under the condition of anonymity, disclosed that the deceased had sustained stab wounds in the rib, back, and thigh.

The couple’s union had produced four children. The remains of the deceased were taken to the mortuary of Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity in Korinya City.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, SP Catherine Anekwe, could not be reached for comments at the time of the report.
