BREAKING: Mass exodus in Benue as Herdsmen attack Otukpo community
Residents of Olena in Asa community, Otukpo LGA of Benue State, have deserted their homes following relentless attacks by suspected herdsmen.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the community has been under siege for the past four days, with multiple casualties and several abductions recorded.
A resident, who spoke to our correspondent, confirmed that villagers were forced to flee on Monday night after losing hope of any security intervention.
“I am currently in Upu. I escaped with my family tonight. The entire community has been abandoned,” he said.
“Olena has been under attack for days. Many people have been killed, and others kidnapped. We have been crying for help, but no security agents have come to our aid. I barely managed to escape with my life and my family,” he added.
Our reporter obtained video footage showing residents desperately fleeing their homes late Monday night as the attacks intensified.
