Bruno Fernandes wins Premier League player of the season
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign for the Red Devils.
Fernandes scored eight goals and matched the record for most assists in a single Premier League season with 20, equalling achievements previously set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
The 31-year-old wins the award for the first time in his career and becomes the first Manchester United player since Nemanja Matić in the 2010/11 season to claim the honour.
Fernandes is now the seventh United player to receive the award, joining club legends including Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
Having already won the FWA Footballer of the Year award, Fernandes adds another major accolade to a memorable season in which he helped United secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
