Chelsea forward, Timo Werner is set to join RB Leipzig on a permanent deal according to various reports.

The 26-year-old forward left RB Leipzig to join Chelsea in 2020 after impressing in the Bundesliga and with the Germany national team, but he has struggled to replicate same form in West London.

With the World Cup fast approaching, Timo Werner need a boost to excel and increase his chances of going to the World Cup with Germany. He scored 78 goals in 127 appearances for Leipzig, where he played between 2016 and 2020.

Transfer experts, Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg both claimed on Sunday that the player is close to the move, with personal terms already agreed a month ago.

Plettenberg’s earlier information was that it could be a loan deal with an option to buy, but in the last hour he’s changed his mind to a permanent move, with a fee of €30-35m.

Business wise, it’s a huge loss for Chelsea, who paid around £47m back in 2020 for the German signature.

Werner scored 23 goals and set up a further 21 in 89 appearances for Chelsea.
