Chris Brown arrested in Manchester over 2023 nightclub assault

American R&B singer Chris Brown has been arrested in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm linked to a 2023 nightclub incident.

The 36-year-old star was taken into custody in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, at The Lowry Hotel by officers from London’s Metropolitan Police. His arrest followed inquiries that confirmed his arrival in Manchester the previous day via private jet.

The arrest is connected to an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair. Brown is accused of assaulting music producer Abe Diaw by striking him with a bottle, allegedly causing severe injuries.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated:

“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”

Brown is currently being held at a local custody suite in Manchester, where detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit are continuing their investigation.
