A fuel taker loaded was descending the 9th mile by-pass road that linked the Enugu-Onitsha express road with the 9th mile-Nsukka express way, then it was in the process that the fully loaded fuel taker lost control and crashed into shops located along the Nsukka express way.

The accident, which occured around 9am this Monday morning didn’t kill anyone. But on getting to the accident scene, it was learnt that the driver sustained severe body injuries and has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital, with his conductor equally sustaining minor injuries and wounds and also receiving treatment.

Though as seen from the photos, some shops and properties were damaged in the process, but just like God will always have his way, no life was lost. And with the arrival of the Enugu State fire service team, who immediately swung into action and quelled the ravaging fire, it helped a lot in containing the situation, and equally making sure that the havoc and damages caused by the inferno was reduced to a bearable level.

Both men of the Road Safety and Nigerian Police Force were quickly deployed to the accident scene, and their presence helped put situation under control, especially as most youths who gathered there were already seizing the opportunity to commit one crime or the other.

According to many persons who reacted to the accident, they lamented the incessant accidents at same scene, which is caused by the dangerous and sloppy nature of the newly constructed 9th mile by-pass road, which has led to uncountable number of accidents since the road was commissioned for use. Also gathered from the scene is the fact that a lot of petitions have been raised and sent to the governor, about the serious dangers posed by the road, but that since then, nothing has been done, yet more and more accidents have continued to happen there.
