Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a prominent member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the escalating security challenges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Isiguzoro expressed concern about recent events and statements from influential Northern leaders, suggesting a need for Tinubu to be cautious of potential conspiracies against his administration.

In a statement he issued, Isiguzoro highlighted key incidents, such as accusations by the Arewa Economic Forum regarding alleged “Yorubanisation” and “Lagoslisation of the polity” through appointments favoring the Yorubas in crucial sectors.

He also mentioned a warning from Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi about Tinubu’s administration’s alignment with Muslims and the North, triggered by FCT Minister Wike’s meeting with the Israeli ambassador.

Isiguzoro pointed out protests in Abuja sponsored by Northern leaders, grievances about the relocation of FAAN and CBN offices to Lagos, and other concerns raised by the North.

He emphasized the importance of addressing insecurity challenges in Abuja amid economic hardships and certain Northern tendencies.

The statement reads: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo implores President Tinubu to take immediate action to address the insecurity challenges in Abuja and to remain vigilant in order to safeguard his administration against any potential Northern conspiracy. The welfare and security of Nigerians depend on proactive measures being taken to counter these threats.”
