FCTA gives fresh update on mass demolition in Abuja

The new FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has been reported to have approved a large-scale demolition in Abuja, targeting 6,000 houses across 30 settlements.

However, the FCTA has dismissed these claims, stating that the reports are entirely false and lacking any factual basis.

According to the FCTA spokesperson, Anthony Ogunleye, the Minister has never specified the areas or number of illegal houses to be demolished.

The focus remains on removing illegal settlements and structures for the overall benefit of the public. Ogunleye emphasized that the FCT’s development follows well-defined policies and regulations, prioritizing sustainable urban growth and residents’ rights.

Any decisions made are based on thorough assessments, community consultations, and adherence to the rule of law.

Ogunleye also reassured residents of the Minister’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the FCT.
