Governor Hyacinth Alia has supervised the distribution of electoral materials for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election across the 23 local government areas of Benue State ahead of Saturday’s exercise.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, the distribution was carried out at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi, where Governor Alia, serving as the Benue Central Returning Officer for the primaries, monitored the process.
The statement disclosed that the exercise began at about 6:00 a.m. after the governor received the sensitive materials on Friday night at Government House around 8:00 p.m.
Governor Alia was said to have publicly displayed the election materials before party officials and stakeholders prior to their dispatch to the various local government areas.
Among those present during the distribution were members of the APC State Working Committee led by Chief Benjamin Omale, local government party chairmen, council chairmen, and other party stakeholders.
The governor appealed to party faithful to maintain peace and order throughout the primary election, emphasizing that the unity of the APC should remain above personal ambitions.
He also instructed local government returning officers to ensure that all accredited delegates are given the opportunity to freely participate in electing the party’s presidential candidate.
Governor Alia further expressed optimism over the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections, noting that the APC administration has delivered impactful governance and remains well-positioned to retain power at different levels.
