Governor Ortom promises to clear outstanding salaries by December

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has promised civil servants in the state that his administration will clear all outstanding salaries before the end of this year.

Governor Ortom made the promise when he spoke at the unveiling ceremony of the maiden edition of Benue Students Annual Festival (BENSAFE) held at the Senate chamber of the Benue State University, Makurdi on Thursday.

The Governor who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Dennis Tyavyar said he was not oblivious of the plight of workers in the state and that efforts were being put together both at the state and federal government level to ensure that outstanding salaries were paid before the year runs out.

He also warned schools indulging in exam malpractices, promising to close those caught in the act.

Benue government is owing state and local government civil servants at least 4-5 months wages respectively.
