I remain member of PDP but they should carry their cross – Wike

Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his allegiance to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite facing expulsion threats from the party.

Wike’s relationship with the PDP leadership soured in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election when he advocated for the party to uphold its internal power-sharing arrangement by zoning the presidential ticket to southern Nigeria.

His stance diverged from the party’s official position, leading to speculation about his loyalty.

Despite rumors of his defection and his absence from key PDP gatherings, Wike reiterated his commitment to the party during a media interaction in Abuja.

“I am a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he asserted. “Have you ever seen me change anything?”
