Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration: ‘We want to create many 2Babas in Idoma land with Idoma Talent Hunt’ – Engr. Emmanuel Adokole,
The Chairman of the Youths and Innovation Committee of the Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration, Engr. Emmanuel Adokole, has said the Idoma Talent Hunt is designed to discover, nurture and produce globally recognised entertainers and creatives from Idoma land.
Speaking during an interview on Idoma Television, Adokole said the initiative would provide a platform for talented youths to showcase their abilities and compete for prizes, including a brand-new car, cash rewards and a record label deal.
“We don’t just want one 2Baba. We want to create many 2Babas in Idoma land,” he said.
According to him, the competition is open to singers, dancers, spoken word artists, comedians and other talented individuals, stressing that the organisers are looking beyond music to identify outstanding talents capable of competing on the global stage.
“The winner will go home with a brand-new car, a record label deal and a collaboration. A dancer can win it, a spoken word artist can win it. We are looking for talent, and we want to take that talent to the global stage,” he said.
Adokole disclosed that auditions will hold in Abuja, Lagos and Otukpo, with three contestants to emerge from Abuja, three from Lagos and four from Otukpo to make up the 10 finalists for the grand finale.
He said the overall winner would receive a brand-new car, a record deal and mentorship opportunities, while the first and second runners-up would receive ₦2.5 million and ₦1.5 million, respectively.
The committee chairman said the organisers deliberately assembled accomplished professionals to serve as judges and mentors, including gospel artiste Owie Abutu, Naomi the Diva, James Aliko and Eljoe Onoja.
Adokole expressed optimism that the competition would become a recurring event, saying the organisers were committed to sustaining it as a platform for discovering and promoting Idoma talents.
“We are promising that this programme will continue. It may be every year or every two years, but we will continue to discover talents and take them to the global stage,” he said.
He urged talented youths across Idoma land and the diaspora to participate in the auditions, describing the talent hunt as one of the flagship programmes of the Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration aimed at empowering young people and projecting the cultural and creative potential of the Idoma nation.
