I’m not fighting Fubara but those misleading him – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has clarified that his conflict is not with the suspended Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, but with those encouraging Fubara to oppose him.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin aired on Saturday afternoon, Wike emphasized that Fubara remains his political protégé and son.
According to the minister, the real adversaries pushing Fubara’s actions are now losing ground and feeling ashamed.
“That’s not a fight with him. He is my boy, my son. Why would I fight him?” Wike said.
“My battle is with people who want to claim what they didn’t earn. When you don’t defeat them, they get bold. But now, they’re embarrassed because they’re losing. They are the ones manipulating Fubara.”
In the same interview, Wike dismissed rumors about his health, describing himself as fit and well. He attributed the illness speculations to those who seek to spread falsehoods.
“Look at me—do I look sick? Do I look older than 30? I’m perfectly fine,” Wike stated confidently.
On the topic of preparing Fubara for a political career, Wike asked, “What’s wrong with that?”
Earlier in April, reports circulated that Wike collapsed during an event at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was subsequently flown abroad for urgent medical care. However, two days later, he reappeared publicly, joining dignitaries in paying Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu, where he appeared lively and in good health—diminishing the health rumors.
