1. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has told the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore that he is ever ready to meet them at the International Criminal Court of Justice.

The Governor said this while reacting to media threats credited to the Fulani group whose members have continued to wreck incalculable havoc on Benue communities thereby killing thousands and rendering many others homeless.

2. Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Benue State Governor, Terver Akase says his principal, Governor Samuel Ortom will continue to support the creative industry, to enable young people maximize their talents.

Mr Akase gave the Governor’s assurance when he represented him on Friday, August 13, 2022 during the unveiling and launch of a musical album composed in his honour by Vera Achir, popularly known as TerezVee, at Alfongo Lounge, Makurdi.

3. Chief Roberts Orya, the Benue governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has promised to place the state among the top economies of the country, if elected in 2023.

Orya said the state has huge economic potential which has not been tapped by successive administrations.

4. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba Alkali, has come under fire by the Benue Youth Forum (BYF) over what they consider a demeaning comment against the Tiv nation.

The Benue Youth Forum, in a statement signed by its President, Terrence Kuanum, recalled that the IGP made the “disrespectful comment to the Tiv nation” during a parley with officers and men of the Nigerian Police in Gombe State, recently.

5. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has asked Nigerian youths to rise up to the challenge of leadership in order to chart a new course for good governance in the country .

The Governor in a solidarity message to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day: “Intergenerational Solidarity: A Key to Inclusive and Sustainable Political Participation” told the youths to take leadership responsibilities through electoral democratic processes saying “The tomorrow you yearn for has come.”

6. Several persons were on Friday night killed after unknown gunmen opened fire on traders at the popular Ayayati market in Ukum Local Government area of Benue State.

The incident, which happened around around 6:pm also left scores of persons injured.

7. The Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, weekend disclosed that the state needs approximately N500million monthly to provide the basic needs of its close to two million Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.

The Executive Secretary of Benue SEMA, Dr. Emmanuel Shior who made the disclosure in Makurdi while flagging off the monthly distribution of food and non-food items to the official and unofficial IDPs camps in the state lamented that the humanitarian crisis in the state occasioned by armed herdsmen attacks had overwhelmed the state government.

8. Residents of Benue state on Friday appealed to the federal government to mobilize Gilmor construction ltd to site to complete the abandoned 118km Makurdi-Naka- Adoka Ankpa road.
The road project description work which was to feature, inter alia, the provision and construction of laterite sub base and base course, crushed stone base course, prime coat, asphalt binder and wearing course, concrete-lined drains among others has not reached 40 percent completion and has been abandoned for over one year now.
