Manchester United identify trio of left-back targets

Manchester United is actively engaging in efforts to secure the services of a left-back before the imminent transfer deadline on Friday. This urgent pursuit stems from Luke Shaw’s recent sidelining due to an extended period of recovery prompted by a muscular injury.

During the match against Nottingham Forest last Saturday, Erik ten Hag deployed Diogo Dalot as a makeshift left-back. However, the manager is now on the hunt for a more suitable and capable alternative.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Manchester United have outlined a trio of potential candidates. Foremost among them is Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, a Spanish full-back. Despite Chelsea’s acquisition of Cucurella for a substantial fee exceeding £60 million the previous summer, he has struggled to cement his position at Stamford Bridge and could potentially seek a loan move.

Another viable option under consideration by Ten Hag is Marcos Alonso. Coincidentally, Alonso was the player who Cucurella succeeded in the West London club. Despite amassing 37 appearances for Barcelona during the previous season, Alonso’s official registration with LaLiga for the current term only took place last week, an outcome influenced by the financial difficulties faced by the club.

The third potential alternative for Manchester United is Sergio Reguilon, a defender currently at Tottenham Hotspur. Reguilon’s expressed desire to leave Tottenham has paved the way for his potential departure this week.
