  1. Former President Goodluck Jonathan Pays Presidential Villa Visit to Congratulate President Bola Tinubu on Supreme Court Victory

    In a significant gesture of statesmanship and unity, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan paid a visit to the Presidential Villa on Friday to extend his congratulations to President Bola Tinubu. The visit came on the heels of the recent Supreme Court judgment that affirmed President Tinubu’s election victory.

  2. Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has said that the anti-narcotics body will deploy personnel in all 774 local government areas of the country in 2024 as part of efforts to strengthen the war against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking especially in local communities.

    He stated this while responding to the request for partnership and deployment of more NDLEA officers in all parts of Katsina by the state governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda to tame the problem of drug abuse and insecurity in the state. He said with the Agency’s staff strength expected to rise to 15,000 by the end of the year, the next “development is to deploy in the LGAs. We currently have zonal commands, state commands, and area commands. We want to go to the LGAs for the offensive action and the advocacy work.

  3. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, made a significant statement on Thursday by recognizing President Bola Tinubu as not just the president of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but as a leader of Nigeria.

    Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, conveyed this sentiment during a visit by APC leaders from his state, led by the National Vice Chairman of APC, South-South, Mr. Victor Giadom, in Abuja.

  6. A former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, of writing lies against him in her book titled ‘Stepping on Toes: My Odyssey at the Nigerian Ports Authority.’

    Amaechi, who served in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stated this on Thursday at TheNiche annual lecture held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos, where he was the guest speaker.

  7. The Minister of State for Labour, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, has asked President Bola Tinubu to ignore calls by some youth in the Labour Party (LP), for her appointment to be revoked.

    The minister said the call for the termination of her appointment was another campaign against her and nothing else, hence it should be ignored.

  8. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clarke has said that there will be no end to electoral litigations till the 1999 Constitution is amended.

    Clarke argued the the Supreme Court cannot set aside the result of a presidential election because the constitution states that whatever the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presents is right.

  9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

    According to Punch, Emefiele is currently being interrogated at the National Headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja.

  10. The move to impeach the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken a different turn as eleven lawmakers of the 26-member state House of Assembly have distanced themselves from the process.

    It was gathered that 11 lawmakers including the Minority Leader, Jide Oguntodu, the Assembly’s Spokesperson, Olatunde Oshati, Japheth Oluwatoyin, Fatai Atere, Gbegudu Ololade, Allen Oluwatoyin, Stephen Abitogun, Tope Komolafe, Felix Afe, Biola Oladapo, and Olawumi Fayemi.
