The Nigerian naira recorded a slight improvement against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira closed at ₦1,320.5574 to $1 on Monday.

The latest figure represents a marginal appreciation compared with the ₦1,321.2160/$1 recorded at the official market on Sunday.

At the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, the local currency ended trading on Monday at approximately ₦1,400 to $1.

However, exchange rates offered by commercial banks, Bureau de Change (BDC) operators and other foreign exchange dealers may vary from the stated reference rates.

Such differences are often influenced by transaction charges, market demand and the availability of foreign currency.

Market watchers are expected to continue monitoring dollar demand, foreign exchange inflows and policy decisions by the CBN throughout September.

These factors could determine whether the naira maintains its recent performance against the dollar in the coming days.
