  1. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Friday, vowed that there will be no glitches in the upload of results for the Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi governorship elections on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

    IDOMA VOICE recalls that the upload of results was a major issue in the 2023 elections, which INEC attributed to technical difficulties.

  2. Multiple residents of Otukpo, Benue State, are reported to have been killed in an attack carried out by suspected armed robbers.

    The incident occurred when the gunmen invaded several banks in Otukpo, firing their weapons indiscriminately at around 3 pm on a Friday.

  3. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, has rejected claims by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that he (Lalong) is taking sides in the dispute between factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

    Recall that the NLC had on Thursday, in a statement issued by its General Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Ugbaja, accused the Minister of violating the agreement by supporting a faction of the NURTW against a democratically elected leadership of the Union. The Labour Centre had vowed to resist any attempt to impose another leadership on the NURTW.

  4. The Israeli government has reportedly approved emergency regulations that grant the authority to close the office of Al Jazeera news channel in Israel.

    These regulations, Naija News learnt, also allow for the confiscation of all equipment belonging to the news channel. Israeli public broadcaster, KAN, noted in a publication on Saturday that the Al Jazeera office is facing strict action due to concerns that its coverage poses a threat to Israel’s national security.

  5. A mob, suspected to be Fulani Okada riders in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, killed a 45-year-old police inspector named Festus Onori. The unfortunate incident occurred while Inspector Onori was on his way to church with his wife and three children on a Sunday.

    The incident unfolded when a commercial motorcyclist, believed to be of Fulani origin, collided with Inspector Onori’s vehicle from behind in Okpanam. After the minor accident, Inspector Onori parked his vehicle a short distance away to ensure the safety of the Okada rider and passenger. However, over 20 men armed with sticks and clubs pursued him, prompting him to retreat into his car.

  6. In a heart-wrenching incident, a young police officer named Emmanuella Ankyov lost her life during a distressing attack on the Otukpo rubber plantation that transpired on Friday. It is reported that Emmanuella Ankyov was one of the dedicated officers who graduated last year from the regular police course.

    This tragic loss of a young and promising law enforcement officer has sent shockwaves throughout the community, leaving many in mourning for the life taken too soon.

  7. The Federal Government is set to commence cash transfers in the country to alleviate poverty across Nigeria.

    IDOMA VOICE understands that President Bola Tinubu-led government would transfer the money directly to the beneficiaries through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and not through consultants.

  8. The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a resounding condemnation of the recent armed bank robbery that took place in Otukpo, Benue State. The robbery led to the tragic loss of lives, including police officers and innocent civilians.

    This audacious attack, carried out by daring armed robbers, resulted in the loss of three police officers and multiple innocent civilians. In a statement released on Saturday, Police Spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi decried this act of violence as an assault on the principles of peace, security, and justice that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies are committed to upholding.
