Spain beat the Czech Republic 2-0 on Sunday, to make it back-to-back wins in their Nations League Group A2. Goals from Carlos Soler and Pablo Sarabia, sealed the victory for Luis Enrique’s men.

As THEWILL reported, Spain beat Switzerland on Thursday after two draws to bring alive their challenge in the continental competition, and they added to their tally at La Rosaleda in Malaga.

Valencia midfielder Soler scored the game’s first goal shortly after the half-hour mark, his third international goal for La Furia Roja. In the 75th minute, substitute Sarabia ensured all three points as La Roja overtook Portugal, who had lost 1-0 in Switzerland, at the top of the group.

As a result of the 1-0 loss that Portugal suffered at the hands of Switzerland on Sunday, this victory takes Spain to the top of the Group A2 table at the end of the June international break before the competition resumes later in the year.

After four sets of matches, Spain’s top place is held by the eight points they have earned so far with Portugal a close second on seven points. The Czech Republic, with four points, are third and Switzerland at the bottom. Only one team will advance and all these teams will be hoping they make it through.
