Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that his rise to fame was self-made, crediting his success to divine grace, quality music, and loyal fans rather than industry backing.

This statement followed his latest achievement of reaching 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, a personal milestone that coincides with the release of his fifth studio album, 5ive.

Reacting to the feat, the “OBO” crooner emphasized that unlike many of his peers who were launched by industry heavyweights or record label executives, he carved his path independently.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Davido wrote:

“No co-sign, built from the ground up! Just God, good music and the best fans! Appreciate you guys fr [for real]!”

The message struck a chord with fans and followers, many of whom praised the singer’s consistency and influence in shaping the global rise of Afrobeats.

Davido’s 5ive has been gaining traction across streaming platforms, adding to a series of accomplishments in a career that spans over a decade.
