The Yobe State Police Command has rescued four teenage girls abducted by suspected criminals in Fika Local Government Area following a joint operation involving police operatives and local vigilantes.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement, saying the incident occurred on June 28, 2026, after the Fika Divisional Headquarters received a distress report that unidentified armed men had invaded Didim Village and abducted four girls.

According to the police, the victims were all minors aged between 15 and 17.

Abdulkarim said officers from the Kukar Hadu Police Outstation, working with local vigilantes and reinforced by personnel from the Fika Divisional Headquarters, immediately launched a rescue operation.

The operation led to the safe recovery of all four victims.

The rescued girls were taken to the Kukar Hadu Primary Healthcare Centre, where they received medical attention and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.

The police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the abduction, adding that security operations have been intensified across the area.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, directed sustained intelligence-led operations to track down the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
